Like many founders, I didn’t start my business in a moment of clarity—but in the middle of one of the hardest seasons of my life.

In 2021, I lost my mom. She was my grounding force—the person who believed in me, who tried to help anyone in her path. She modeled kindness, accountability, joy, and resilience in ways that didn’t need a platform or a title. When she died, something in me shifted. That’s the kind of loss that stops you. That cracks open everything. It forces you to look at what really matters.

By my 50s, I had built a successful career. I was a high performer and a trusted partner delivering results across industries, from leading a small start-up, academia at Harvard, to global consulting organizations. And yet, I was deeply unfulfilled. I realized I had been building for everyone but myself.

I remembered something a founder once told me early in my career. She handed me a business planning book filled with her notes and said, “You should start your own company someday.” I was in my 20s. I smiled, thanked her, and thought, that isn’t for me.

It took three decades, a mountain of experience, and a wave of grief to realize: it actually was me.

During intentional downtime—watching sunsets in Arizona—I got quiet. And somewhere in that stillness, a voice surfaced: It’s time to build your own. But this time, on your terms. That was the beginning of HALO Growth Partners.

What emerged wasn’t just a business, but a belief: there are better, more intentional ways to scale, and better ways to partner with clients. Ways rooted in vision, clarity, disciplined execution, and the flexibility to move quickly in service of what matters most to the client.
